It is in the Hradec Králové Region of Bohemia. The city lies at the confluence of the Elbe and the Orlice rivers, close to the Czech highest mountains Krkonoše. It is a famous city since a very long time and was the residence of many kings and queens, and is called the green city because of the many green areas and parks it has. It is about 100 km to the east of the capital with a population of about 100 000 people.
